How to use Facebook to raise awareness

facebookIn this short article we are going to talk about a couple of events where people used facebook to get their messages across the internet.  On November 16 2010 a message in Greek was written to ask people to change their profile picture on facebook to raise awareness for stopping violence against children.   The message was quickly translated into many different languages and people profiles on facebook started to change into cartoon characters.

Another campaign that was launched recently to raise awareness for breast cancer was to ask females to change their status on facebook to “I like it on the floor, I like it on the kitchen, I like it on desk”.  These funny phrases is to imply the locations where females left their purses.

We are not sure if this is the best way to raise awareness for something or not, but it definitely attracted followers.  The examples that we have listed are for good causes.  This might be the reason why the trend is spreading so quickly.  These campaigns are funny and subtle and they create no drama or hate.   It is all about winning the crow, if you have an idea that will appeal to the mass then it will quickly travel across the internet.

In the future, if you have any idea that you want to reach people, you can always look back at these two examples and launch a successful marketing campaign for the goods of humanity.
