How to see file extentions in windows 7

For the average person there is no need for seeing the extension of a file, but if you are a pro you should know this little trick. This small trick let you know exactly what you are dealing with (.exe, .doc, .rar) and make your life much easier as a computer tech.

Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
Open Folder Options in the Control Panel.
Change View by to Large icon at the top right of the Control Panel.
Select the View tab in the Folder Options window.
Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
Click ok to save
