Build a Cheap Computer for 100 Dollars

I am very interested in what type of computer can you buy for $100 or less.  I would like to show you how to build or get yourself a $100 PC.  With the price of Computer Desktop PC changing everyday, what you can get a PC for under $100 also changes dramaticaly.  So for today, I just want to see what I can get for a used or new PC for less than $100.
Some of the options for a sub $100 PC:
Option 1:  Buy from online stores such as Ebay, Google Shopping, and Computer Online stores etc.
Option 2:  Buy PC’s part and assemble them together.
Ok, so let take a look at option 1.
OPTION 1: BUY FROM ONLINE STORES
Buying a sub $100 PC from online stores is possible these day because the price of the computer has became affordable and the technologies from processor to memory has improved a lot.  So, I did some searches online.  I started out with Ebay, then Google shopping.  A summary of what I found is listed below.
EBAY:  go to www.ebay.com and search for “computer desktop pc” and scroll down until you see Items Priced in the Search option (on the left column) and put in the price from $50 to $100.
You can see that, for under $100, I can get a very good deal on a used PC:  A Dell PC running at (Intel Pentium 4) 2.4GHz, with 512MB of RAM, 40GB hard drive, CDROM, and come with WinXP Pro.  This system is ready for use at home.
Google Shopping:  I did the same thing.
First go to google.com and click on Shopping.  Type in “computer desktop pc” and then scroll down to bottom and put in the price range for the item from $50 to $100.  This is what I get:
http://www.google.com/products?q=computer+desktop+pc&hl=en&lnk=pruser&hl=en&price1=50.00&price2=100.00&btnP=Go
As you can see, you can get a pc for $100: HP Vectra running at (Intel Pentium 4) 1.7GHz with 512MB ram, 40GB Hard Drive, CDROM, and WinXP.
All these are good for home use: surfing internet, word processing, basic games, and media player.  Here are summary:
Processor                     RAM (MB)           Hard disk(GB)               CDROM               OS
EBAY            Pentium 4 2.4GHz        512                     40                                Yes                     WinXP
GOOGLE       Pentium 4 1.7GHz        512                     40                                Yes                     WinXP
So, for under $100, I would expect to get some PC similar to these requirements as shown above.  Next I want to search online stores for pc’s parts and assemble them together.  Also, to keep the cost under $100.  However not include tax and shipping cost here.
OPTION 2: BUY COMPUTER PARTS AND ASSEMBLE THEM TOGETHER
Next, I am looking into buying computer parts and assemble them together.
25 Jun 2008:  So far, I am not in luck for any online stores that have good deal to be able to build a sub $100 PC.  I recommend to try for $200 PC.  Please see the blog on that.  Thanks.
WARNING:
Be very careful when touching these electronic parts, especially the CPU and memory, ESD (Electronic Static Discharge) will changed the circuitry in these parts and caused it to malfuntioning.  Don’t plug in power from the wall until you are sure that you had everything installed and checked.
HARDWARE
The hardware part can be complicated or simple and in this blog, I try to keep it simple for most beginner to do.  Hardware parts include are motherboard, cpu, memory, case and power supply, and accessories: hard disk drive, optical drive, mouse, keyboard and speaker etc.
1.  MOTHERBOARD
Motherboard is the key part of any PC and they hold the CPU, Memory, chipset etc all working together for your needs: typing, playing video, music, games, surfing the web, and most important of all, to store information.  To look for motherboard, I use google shopping link, and type in “motherboard combo for sale”: (here is the link)
http://www.google.com/products?q=motherboard+combo+for+sale&hl=en&show=dd&price1=&price2=60.00&lnk=prsugg
from there you can limit the hits to under $60 at the bottom of the page.
2.  CPU
3.  MEMORY
4.  CASE AND POWER SUPPLY
5.  ACCESSORIES
OS & SOFTWARE
1.  LINUX
